NSW and Victoria showcased two of their most promising live acts at the Harp Hotel Wollongong on Wednesday night. The Mission In Motion and Stealing O’Neal, both coming off great years in 2010, joined forces for a night of great live entertainment.

Local band Young Braves impressed with their live act, opening the night with a solid set, as well as giving out free CD’s – always a bonus! I Am Villain were next to grace the stage, catching the crowd’s attention with their slightly more punk sound and lively show.

Coming off a stellar 2010 and relentless tour schedule, Stealing O’Neal did their best to impress the Wollongong crowd, with an energetic performance. Playing hit songs such as ‘Hometown’ ‘Circle/Square’ from their debut album Don’t Sleep, as well as older favourites like ‘Lullaby For The Loveless’, the band is always at their best when performing live. Stealing O’Neal did well to a slightly unresponsive crowd, playing with their usual energy and joking banter.

The Mission In Motion seemed to be the band that the crowd were waiting for, with more people taking to the floor. Having only recently started listening to these guys with the release of 2010 album Somewhere Safe, I was impressed with their live show. Vocalist Brett Islaub was a great frontman, somehow managing to keep his vocals top notch while spending more time in the crowd with fans, than on the stage.

The tour name ‘Good Times and Killer Rhymes’ lived up to its name, with great live acts and good times had by all!
